Type
In IBI-aws two types of messages exist which differ
in the dependence of applications. The general message has no dependency
at all but the application specific message is an enhanced general
notification which will only be displayed if a certain application is started
or has been started on the users computer.
General Message
The general message will be displayed to every user
unless you haven’t added any additional limitation (please refer to section Network and ActiveDirectory). A general message will allow you to inform your users
about various matters.
Application specific Message
The application specific message is based on the general message but adds the condition Applications.
To create an application specific message at least one
application has to be determined which will then work as a trigger for the
message to be displayed. The message will only be displayed if the
computer is executing the predetermined application. This type of message
is particularly useful if you wish to restrict the information to users, who
are using predetermined applications. Users, who never work with these
predetermined applications will not receive unnecessary information.
General
Start time
The start time determines the start of the display time of the message. It does not determine the display of Warnings as
they have to be set before.
End time
The end time determines the closing time of the message.
Active
Sets the notification into active mode. Once activated it
will be transfered to the IBI-aws Clients.
Specifies whether the message is active. If the message is active it would be transfered to the IBI-aws Clients when the message group being published. If its not active the message would not be transfered.
Ignore Message Group Exclusions
Specifies whether message group exclusions should be ignored. Message group exclusions are defined on the message group level and are valid
for every message of this message group. If message group excludes exist within the message group they will appear as grey marked item in within the message sections network
and active directory. If you select this option message group exclusions
for this message will be ignored.
Reason
The reason is comparable to the subject of an e-mail. It
should be brief but describe concisely the content of the message.
Message
This is the entire message that you would like to communicate to your users. Messages that appear as an insertion use a shortened and line break free version of the
text.
Multilingual Messages
Version 1.10 provides the option of creating a message in several languages. It will allow a better information system in an international environment. More information in chapter Multilingualism.
Appearance
Display mode
- Fullscreen
The message fills the whole screen an appears over all other applications. It will be visible until the user cklicks the Hide message button.
- Insertion
A short version of the message appears at the lower right corner of the screen for a few seconds. If the user clicks on the message the whole message would be displayed.
- Silent
The message will not be displayed on the desktop. Instead a small flashing symbol beside the system clock indicates the new message.
Close message after expiration automatically
With this option the message, which is displayed on the screen of an absent user will
automatically hide after time out. When the user returns to the computer the
message will no longer be displayed as it isn’t up to date anymore and the
reason for the message has already been solved. Do not select this option
if you want the message to be visible on the computer until the user has
read it.
Early warning
The early warning is an option that will allow you to display
additional message on the users screen before the actual notification is
transmitted in order to herald the matter.
Show early warning only once per application
This setting is only available with application specific messages.
- Enabled
If IBI-aws recognizes an application that is assigned to the
message the current warning will be displayed. If IBI-aws recognizes the
same application again the warning will not be displayed again. Every warning
will always be displayed once. They will be displayed if the user uses or
starts an application, which has been specified as a trigger within the message.
- Disabled
If IBI-aws recognizes an
application that is assigned to the message the current warning will be
displayed. If IBI-aws recognizes the same application again the warning will be
displayed once more. Warnings can be displayed several times. They will be
displayed whenever using an application or restarting an application that has
been specified as a trigger within the message.
